HORSE SHOW RULES AND INFORMATION
AWARDING OF AND PAYMENT OF PREMIUMS
The Idaho Horse Park management reserves the right to re-adjust the premiums in this book. The premiums printed herein may be subject to change by the Idaho Horse Park
In order to make use of the total monies available, all premiums will be paid by mail as soon as possible after the show.

Show entries close September 15, 2008. Your entries must be received by that date. Please use the regulation entry blank provided in this premium book.

1. This is a Draft Horse and Mule show for Belgians, Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons, Suffolks, and mules or grade horses of these breeds. Classes are open to horses weighing 1,500 pounds or more, registered or grade of the above breeds and to draft mules weighing, 1,000 pounds or more and a product of one of the above breeds.
2. Entry fee is listed by each class. All applicable fees including entry fees, stall fees, and RV fees must accompany entry to be considered complete. US funds only please.
3. Exhibitor's social security number, social insurance number, or tax number must be included with the entry form. Premiums will not be paid without the information.
4. The management reserves the right to split or combine classes. Exhibitors will be notified in advance of such changes.
5. Hitches may be made up of animals owned by one or more exhibitors.
6. All entries should be ready at the in gate in advance to avoid delays. Up to a five minute gate hold will be given after the class is called in the arena. The gate will then be closed and no other entries will be allowed to enter.
7. No person shall be permitted in the ring at the times of judging except the judges, ring steward, official photographer, and one groom per entry.
8. Grooms should be attired appropriately with their exhibit.
9. For safety reasons a qualified rider should accompany the driver on the seat in classes containing three or more animals per hitch.
10. The Ringmaster may excuse any entry deemed unsafe.

STALL ASSIGNMENTS & FAILURE TO EXHIBIT
By completing and signing the enclosed entry form, an exhibitor agrees to accept the stalls assigned to him or her.

HAY & BEDDING
Hay and shavings will be available for purchase on the grounds. All orders should be placed through the show office. Delivery will be made to the stall area as quickly as possible. NO STRAW BEDDING IS ALLOWED.

PROPER ATTIRE
Each exhibitor as well as helpers will be required to be in proper dress when in the show ring. This includes all headers.

HEALTH REGULATIONS
All horses and mules including foals must have a negative Coggins test within the calendar year 2008. Horses coming from outside of Idaho and from Canada must have an interstate health certificate that meets the requirements of the state of Idaho. A copy of health and Coggins will be retained by the show office.

EXHIBITORS RESPONSIBILITY
Exhibitors are required to give the necessary personal attention to their horses and equipment. When horses are removed from the stalls or moved about the show grounds, they shall be haltered, bridled, or fastened by leads and shall be constantly attended by competent attendants.

Every exhibitor will be solely responsible for any loss, injury, or damage done to or occasioned by or arising from any horse exhibited by him/her. All exhibitors shall indemnify the Idaho Horse Park and its sponsors and hold them harmless from any loss, cost, or expense caused by his/her exhibit.

INSURANCE & LIABILITIES
By entering the Northwest Classic Draft and Mule Show, the exhibitor assumes all risk of loss, injury or damage of every kind or nature, however caused, including the negligence of the Idaho Horse Park or any of its employees, agents, volunteers, officers, directors, sponsors or otherwise, to property and any kind or nature, belonging to or brought upon the premises by exhibitor, or personal injury to the exhibitor or any of his employees, and agrees to save and keep harmless the Northwest Classic Draft and Mule Show committee, the Idaho Horse Park, and any others acting on their behalf from any and all claims or suits growing out of any such loss, injuries, or damage. The exhibitors is urged to keep attendants at their exhibits at all times and carry insurance for their protection against any losses which may be incurred and to protect themselves from risks assumed under this clause.

SOUNDNESS
Horses must be serviceably sound. Horses having ailments which are inheritable or of strong predisposing tendency such as spavins, curbs, and ophthalmia, will be regarded as unsound. Puffs, splints and ossifications due to accident will not be regarded as unsoundness unless the judge regards them to be so large as to be unsightly or to be of such character as to affect the usefulness of the animal. The judge's decision in respect to unsoundness of a horse or mule under consideration for award shall be final.

INTERFERENCE WITH JUDGES
The judge shall report to the Show Management and exhibitor who, in any way, whether in person or by agents of employees, interferes with him during his adjudication or manifests any disrespect to him or her, whereupon a proper apology from such exhibitor shall be demanded. Any exhibitor who refuses to comply with this rule may be excluded from further competition and the management may withhold from such exhibitor any premiums that may have been awarded to him.

PROTESTS
All persons making entries agree to accept, and abide by the judges' decision. Protests on any grounds must be made in writing on the same day in which the protested action was taken, and given to the Show Management. ALL PROTESTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A DEPOSIT OF $50. THE DEPOSIT WILL BE FORFEITED IF THE PROTEST IS NOT SUSTAINED.

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT
Unsportsmanlike conduct by any exhibitor, trainer, or owner will not be tolerated and any violator will be excused from the arena. Inhumane treatment of the animal in the show arena, warm-up area, stall, runway, or anywhere on the grounds of the Idaho Horse Park/Idaho Center, or cruelty to or abuse of an animal by any person, is forbidden and renders the offender subject to penalty. The Show Management may bar violators from further participation for the remainder of the Show.

RIDING CLASS RULES
Western
1. Must use western tack and dress in western attire.
2. Spurs are optional.
3. No restrictions on type of bit used.
4. Two hands are permitted to be used with bit.
5. Three western gaits will be used: A. walk B. jog C. lope
6. Horse and rider are both judged.
7. Each horse will be required to back.


English
1. Must use English tack and dress in English attire.
2. A riding helmet is required.
3. A crop is permitted.
4. No restrictions on type of bit used.
5. Riders are required to ride using two hands.
6. Three English gaits will be used: A. walk B. trot C. canter
7. Spurs are optional.
8. Horse and rider are both judged.
9. Each horse will be required to back.

IDAHO HORSE PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS
FREE PARKING
Please observe all NO PARKING signs. Vehicles parked in a No Parking Zone may be ticketed and/or towed by the Nampa Police Department.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY
Anyone that damages or destroys Idaho Horse Park property will be held responsible for the cost of repairs or replacement.

NO SMOKING
All buildings and stall areas are smoke free.

DOGS
All dogs must be restrained on a leash at all times. With the exception of dogs used by the handicapped, dogs are not allowed in the Idaho Center or Sport Center Arena. Pet owners will be responsible for clean-up of droppings.

ALCOHOL & FOOD
No outside food, beverages, or alcohol may be brought into any building without the consent of the Idaho Horse Park.

STALL CHECK-IN OFFICE
From Interstate 84 follow signs to the stall office. All exhibitors entering the grounds must check in with the Idaho Horse Park office to register and receive their stall assignments. For those wishing to charge expenses while at the Park, such as food, shavings, and feed, an in-house charge card will be issued.

UNLOADING & LOADING
Trucks and horse trailers will unload and load at the direction of the Idaho Horse Park staff. All vehicles must unload and then move to designated parking areas as determined by the Idaho Horse Park. No permanent parking will be allowed around any barn without prior approval from the Idaho Horse Park. Facility Management reserves the right to have vehicles towed at owner's expense if they are blocking a fire lane.

TRAILER-IN EXHIBITORS
Showing out of a trailer will be allowed for local exhibitors that do not wish to stall their horses at the Idaho Horse Park. A special parking area will be provided in the south parking lot. It will still be necessary for trailer-in exhibitors to pay the "per horse fee" when making entries. No overnight tying to trailers

STALLS & STALL DECORATIONS
Show committee encourages competitors to decorate stalls; however, stalls may not be altered or changed without the permission of the Idaho Horse Park. Only one animal shall be allowed per stall.

WASH RACK
All horses will be washed in the designated wash areas only. No washing may be done in the stalls or alleyways.

BEDDING & MANURE
Wood shavings will be used for bedding and will be available through the stall office. Straw bedding is not allowed. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning and maintaining stall areas. Used bedding will be deposited in stall dumps supplied by the Idaho Horse Park. Please remove all cans, glass, baling twine and wire from manure before placing it in the stall dumps. It will be the responsibility of the Idaho Horse Park to keep the stall dumps available for exhibitor use.

RV SPACES
All RV spaces will be assigned by the Idaho Horse Park. Each space may have on RV or trailer and one vehicle. No horses will be allowed in the RV area.

VETERINARY
The Idaho Equine Hospital is located adjacent to the Idaho Horse Park. If you need a veterinarian call the show office at 208- 442-3335 or the Idaho Equine Hospital after hours emergency number 208-466-4613.

RESTROOMS & SHOWERS
Showers are available in the Idaho Center. You may make arrangements through the show office.

SAFETY IS MOST IMPORTANT - PLEASE HELP US
The speed limit on the Idaho Horse Park grounds is 10 mph. Persons who do not have a valid driver's license allowing them to operate a motor vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be allowed to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including but not limited to golf cart, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the Idaho Horse Park grounds. Firearms and fireworks are prohibited from the grounds.

AMENDING RULES
Idaho Horse Park event management reserve the right to amend, add to and/or interpret these rules as the need arises.
